Code of Ethics Statement
This Policy is Effective as of July 1, 2005


The foundation of philanthropy is ethical fundraising. This foundation is built upon integrity, honesty and excellence in all services provided to our clients. We desire to provide our church and para-church clients with the best fundraising experience available.

Master Financial Planning Services Inc.

Master Financial Planning Services Inc. exists to promote the growth of philanthropy towards our clients and to adhere to superior ethical standards in the fundraising profession and to preserve and enhance philanthropy and volunteerism among the donors of our clients.

Master Financial Planning Services Inc. receives no compensation from donors and does not receive any commissions or “kickbacks” from third party companies for referrals, rather charges for services provided to our clients.

The staff and associates of Master Financial Planning Services Inc. aspire to:

  • Practice the profession of fundraising with integrity, honesty, truthfulness and adherence to the absolute obligation to protect the donor of our clients.
  • Act according to the highest standards and visions of our client organizations.
  • Always put the philanthropic mission of our clients above personal or client gain.
  • Inspire and motivate others through dedication and high purpose.
  • Improve our professional knowledge and skills to enhance our performance in serving our clients.
  • Demonstrate concern for the interests and well-being of individual donors.
  • Value the privacy, freedom of choice and interests of all donors.
  • Treat all people with dignity and respect.
  • Affirm, through assisting donors’ personal giving, a commitment to philanthropy.
  • Adhere to the spirit as well as the letter of all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conscientiously avoid even the slightest appearance of any professional misconduct.

Our Professional Responsibilities

  1. As consultants we will not engage in activities that harm the church or our clients’ organization.
  2. As consultants we shall not engage in activities that conflict with our fiduciary, ethical, or legal obligations to our clients.
  3. As consultants we shall immediately disclose any potential and/or actual conflicts of interest.
  4. As consultants we will never exploit any relationship with a donor, prospect, volunteer, or employee to the benefit of our consulting firm or our clients.
  5. As consultants we will comply with all applicable local, provincial, and federal civil and criminal laws.
  6. As consultants we recognize our boundaries of competence and will be forthcoming and truthful about our experience and qualifications.
  7. As consultants we will take care to ensure that all solicitation materials are accurate and correctly reflect our clients’ mission and use of solicited funds.
  8. As consultants we will ensure that donors receive informed, accurate, and ethical advice about the value and tax implications of potential gifts.
  9. As consultants we will encourage proper stewardship of charitable contributions, including timely reports on the use and management of funds for donors and others.
  10. As consultants we encourage clients to receive explicit consent from the donor before altering the conditions of a gift.
  11. As consultants we will not disclose privileged or confidential information to unauthorized parties.
  12. As consultants we promise to adhere to the principle that all donor and prospect information created by, or on behalf of, a client organization is the property of that client organization and shall not be transferred or utilized except on behalf of the client organization.
  13. As consultants we will give donors the opportunity to have their names removed from lists.  
  14.  As consultants we shall state fundraising results, using accurate and consistent accounting methods that conform to the appropriate guidelines.
  15. As consultants we will never accept compensation that is based on a percentage of charitable contributions; nor shall will we accept a finder’s fee or accept any compensation from a donor for our services.
  16.  As consultants we may accept performance-based compensation, such as bonuses, provided such bonuses are in accord with prevailing practices within the clients’ organization, and is not based on a percentage of charitable contributions raised.
  17. As consultants we place the donor first and carry out the wishes of the donor whether the client organizations benefits from this action or not.
  18. Respect individual church doctrine and practices with a view to helping the church expand ministry.
  19. Deal with any issues which may arise quickly and in a biblical manner.
  20. Provide the latest materials, ideas, concepts, survey’s, in a timely manner.
